Hannah – Year 12

I am a Year 12 student at Colonel Frank Seely Academy Sixth Form, studying Biology, History and Psychology. Grateful for the support and encouragement of the teachers here, there was never any doubt about choosing this as my next step. My older sister attended this school and received A*s in her A levels, allowing her to study Law at Bristol University. So far I have really enjoyed my A levels, particularly because of the guidance and communication provided by small class sizes.

I have been chosen to participate in the HE+ Programme, coordinated by Cambridge University and aimed at students from a select number of schools who are aspiring to apply to Oxford, Cambridge or other prestigious universities. Our school is  privileged in being to be part of this programme, particularly as it already has a good track record at helping students get in to some of the top universities in the country. HE+ focuses on exploring university applications, life and study whilst utilising online resources and webinars every week to students involved exploring the range of courses on offer. This programme will really help me to choose a course I am passionate about. In addition, the online portal is full of information, questions and videos about many courses that help to go beyond the curriculum and learn more about subjects of my choice.

My aspirations are to apply to Cambridge University to study Law and Criminology modules or to apply for a course revolving around Psychology. I am thoroughly enjoying learning more about these subjects so far and hope this course will aid me in making a decision. From this experience, The HE+ Project also gives me the opportunity to make an academic research poster; gain access from Oxbridge admission tutors to help with my university application, access to Cambridge online and a visit to the university in the summer term! Already I feel more prepared and encouraged in my prospective application to universities later this year and I am grateful for the opportunity to go beyond the school curriculum.
